Gurgaon: A radio show that promises to combine radio broadcasts with classroom learning material and making learning fun was launched on Tuesday for school children in Gurgaon.
"Galli Galli Sim Sim", a collaboration between NGO The Restoring Force (TRF), HSBC Bank and Sesame Workshop India Trust will initially focus on delivering key health and educational messages to children from migrant families and their parents.
"The Radiophone School program attempts to expand access to a quality educational experience for school children in Gurgaon by combining radio broadcasts with in-classroom learning material," said Arti Jaiman, project manager, TRF.
The programme will be implemented in 30 class 1 and 2 classrooms in government and private schools.
"The classrooms will be provided with mobile phones and speakers to enable students to listen to the show over a community radio station during school hours," she added.
In addition, teachers will be provided with printed educational material and activity sheets and 30 teachers will be trained on the usage of these materials. IANS
